Objectives

This course is designed to instruct experienced operators in the recognised, correct and safe practical applications of the Overhead Gantry Crane. Including safety knowledge of its capabilities and limitations.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• Show and understanding of their legal duties.
• Understand the limitations of this type of equipment.
• Understand correct raising, positioning and lowering procedures.
• Identify equipment faults.

• Acts and Regulations as applicable.
• Operator responsibilities.
• Accidents, causes and prevention.
• Radii, Safe working loads, momentum.
• Crane / Slinger signals.
• Safety Inspection, care and maintenance of equipment.
• Weight Estimation, Centres of gravity.
• Overload warning devices / correct positioning.
• Practical applications of the course content.
• Correct techniques relative to the working environment.

Duration

1 to 2 days dependant on candidate numbers and experience.

Additional Information

• Certification will be issued to delegates demonstrating the correct levels of understanding and practical skills.
• The course is a mixture of theoretical and practical work and an appropriate room, area and operating equipment will be required.
• A discount scheme operates for multi site or multi course bookings.
