LORRY LOADER ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES ALLMI TRAINING LIMITED

Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers sets the standards for lorry loader training

OWNERS and operators of lorry loaders can now take advantage of the UK’s first fully accredited lorry loader training scheme. It is being launched by the Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers (ALLMI), the UK’s only trade association devoted exclusively to advancing safety and standards in the lorry loader industry.

It will be administered and managed by a new company, Harrogate-based ALLMI Training Ltd, headed by Ian Berrill, formerly group health, safety and environmental manager for Jewsons, the UK’s biggest builders merchant with more than 1,000 loader cranes.

The training will be carried out by independent third parties – for example owners, operators and training specialists - that meet the strict criteria set by ALLMI. As accredited trainers they will use course syllabus, teaching plans, and operator manuals  provided by ALLMI Training as well as certification, id cards and registration on a national database for operators and instructors to ensure the delivery of consistent, nationally applied standards designed to make the use of lorry loaders safer and more efficient.

Comments Ian Berrill: “With the introduction of new standards and legislation, and the increasing use of lorry loaders in new and different applications, the importance of good safety practice has never been greater.”

He continues: “As the lead trade association in the industry, this is a logical and timely initiative for ALLMI designed to ensure that owners and operators can meet their statutory obligations with confidence. It will guarantee a uniformly high level of training from one end of the country to the other.”

ALLMI currently has members drawn from all parts of the industry, including manufacturers, agents and service providers. Many are world-class companies and household names in this specialist sector who have made a major contribution to the design and development of loader crane technology. They all have one thing in common: promoting safe use and best practice.

The launch of ALLMI Training Ltd is a natural extension of its role as the premier champion of improved safety and operational performance in the UK lorry loader industry. Who better to introduce an accredited training programme than the organisation that has consistently pioneered better safety and standards? And, more to the point, has the experience, expertise and track record to ensure its success?
